Freedom is not Free

Well, that frigging rodent saw his shadow, again, so I guess the white ground will stay white for awhile longer.  You don't realize how much you miss the ground-------grass or dirt----until you haven't seen it for a month and a month.

Happy groundhog's day to everyone.

No groundhogs around here. If there was he would have seen his shadow. Do armadillos count? What happened to the webcam at that railroad inn in Cresson? I had been checking it every once-in-a-while, but it has disappeared.

I'll have to check on it.  We live about 1/2 mile from it's location.  In a burg this small, if you live a mile or two from somewhere and want to go there, it's an all day trip.

A small antedote:  The maintenance man at the beach house we rent every year was telling us about a B&B he and his family stayed at for a few years, when he was much younger.  Couldn't remember the name of the town, but the tracks were directly in front of it and there was a very cozy little bar in the basement.  Yep, good ole Cresson Station Inn.  I worked on the RR during the early 70s (while going to school) and I liked it, but I never, ever knew the fanatic interest in railroading until I got up here.  The folks that stay at the Station Inn can tell you the name and nomenclature of every engine that goes by...........and being the busiest freight mainline east of the Mississippi, there are plenty of them.  We're about 8 miles from the world famous horseshoe curve, so there are mucho plenty of these types of folks around.

Get back with you on the webcam.

It looks like you got a couple of feet of new snow. I see a lot more activity at the inn. Would you believe; I have never seen a snow blower or snow shovel?

Look at the pic I sent you and you'll not only see a snowblower but also one in action.  Twenty-four/twenty-six inches where we live on top of the mountain.  Some of the folks farther south got more.  Our front yard/side yard/back yard looks like a snow maze.  I've cut paths (with the snowblower, of course) so we could get to the mailbox and put the garbage out to the street.  I miss the south.

We have about 25 millimeters of snow here this morning. Where did I put that snow blower?

Being from the south, I never realized what good a snowblower was.  Now that I'm a certified yankee (been here for almost 6 years now), I can appreciate the monster.  Shovelling snow is for the birds!!!  At least that blower gets rid of most of the heavy stuff so what little shovelling is left wont give you a heart attack.

It's still snowing here and has been for a month (at least it seems that long).  There's about 30 inches on the ground and where I've snow blown, it looks like a canyon with straight walls..........actually pretty neat.  The township is running out of places to put the snow.  If we get much more, it's going to be a mess.  Our highest temps have been in the low 20s so nothing is melting.  Think I'll go to Fiji with Goose.

Update. We have 7 inches on the ground and still coming down. This is the most we have had in over 30 years. The South Pacific sounds good. Ain't this global warming a bitch.

Sears sells a pretty good snowblower.  Better get ya one before they're gone.  Let's see now...........you live in north Ft.Worth, is that right?

Nope. South "of" Fort Worth, near Burleson. And it'll melt off by tomorrow and I'll just stay in till then. There is about 8 inches this morning. The porridge tastes good and I'll make some sausage gravy and biscuits later. It don't get no better than that. I has to sweep the snow off the TV dish a couple of times yesterday.

Behold! What is a bell? A bell is that which sounds, far, and high ... It will echo far and wide like the peal of thunder but under utmost purity. And evil men, hearing the bell, will be saved.
